Visiting Australia – Visa Requirements
Australia welcomes genuine visitors for business and tourism, for family visits and pre-arranged medical treatment, where adequate funds are available and the proposed period of stay is temporary only. Business visitors
For persons attending a conference or business meetings in Australia:
• Completed and signed Form 456
• Completed Business Supplementary Form
• Your passport, a copy of your passport, two recent passport photographs and application fee in Jordanian Dinar (cash only – note cheques and credit cards are not accepted)
• Copies of business invitation and contact details of relatives/business associates in Australia
• Statement of bank account showing transactions for the past 3 to 6 months, or a statement of support from the business contact in Australia
• Letter from your employer confirming your position, period of employment, salary and dates of business leave
• Original and translated photocopy of the Family Book (all family members included)
Visitors and tourists
For tourists and persons visiting family in Australia:
• Completed and signed Form 48R
• Completed Visitor Supplementary Form
• Your passport, a copy of your passport, two recent passport photographs and application fee in Jordanian Dinar (cash only – note cheques and credit cards are not accepted)
• Telephone number and full address details of any relatives/contacts in Australia
• Evidence of adequate funds to support yourself whilst in Australia (statement of bank account showing transactions for the past 3 to 6 months)
• A letter of employment confirming your period of employment, salary and the approved period of leave (if you are self-employed and own a business, show proof of business ownership and arrangements in place for the business while you are overseas)
• Original and translated photocopy of the Family Book (all family members included)
Sponsored visitors
Applications for persons sponsored by family in Australia must now be lodged in Australia. For more information see www.immi.gov.au.
Medical treatment
For persons receiving or accompanying a person receiving medical treatment in Australia:
• Completed and signed Form 48ME
• Application fee in Jordanian Dinar (Cash only) for a stay of longer than 3 months (no fee for less than 3 months)
• Medical report from your overseas doctor
• Written information from the doctor or hospital who will be treating you in Australia, stating the nature and duration of treatment, the period under medical care in Australia and confirmation of arrangements for payment
• All of the supporting documents listed above for visitor visa
Visa processing requirements
To assist in processing your visa application, please ensure that you provide complete information at time of lodgement. You will need to complete an Aramex Domestic Waybill at time of lodgement. Your decision will be delivered to you by Aramex in approximately 10 days (fee JOD2 cash on delivery). We will not respond to status enquiries within this time.
Please provide certified English translations of all Arabic-language supporting documents. Originals of all photocopied documents must be sighted at time of lodgement.
Specific additional requirements
• If you are a student, attach a registration record for the current year from your school or university, or for the next academic year if you are applying during summer vacation.
• If you are under 18 years of age, provide your parents’ (or guardians’) consent for leaving the country, certified by a Justice of the Peace.
• If you are a parent taking a child under 18 years of age with you, you must provide the written consent of the other parent, certified by a Justice of the Peace, allowing the child to leave the country and travel to Australia.
• If you are over 70 years of age, your doctor must fill form “Proforma for Offshore Applicants Aged 70 and Over” to indicate that you are in good health and fit to travel by air. Also attach overseas health insurance covering your period of stay in Australia (to be submitted upon request)
• If you will be visiting a hospital or health care facility for any reason, you will need to have an x-ray and, in some circumstances, a medical examination (for more information see form 1163i at www.immi.gov.au).
