Job Vacancy – Locally Employed Security Manager
The Australian Embassy in Amman is seeking an energetic, pro-active and service-focussed person to work as Security Manager.
Duties:
The Security Manager’s duties will include but not be limited to the following:
• Providing overall day-to-day managerial direction and close supervision for the contracted reception and security guarding services at the Embassy and other nominated locations. Maintaining a high standard in the effectiveness of the guard force, their appearance and interaction with the general public and Embassy staff.
• Assist Embassy Management in reviewing, developing and implementing Embassy Security Standing Operating Procedures.
• Conducting skills training and tactical scenario training for the security guard force, keeping written records of the type of training conducted and those who participated for audit purposes.
• Conducting initial and periodic security briefings to Embassy staff, dependents and official visitors.
• Conducting security assessments and briefings for Embassy functions and/or visits.
• Working hours as required including regular weekend and night time Chancery.
Selection Criteria:
• A minimum of 5 years as a Security Manager at a diplomatic mission or a minimum of 10 years exemplary service in a national military or police security service.
• Be able to provide formal qualifications (or verified records of on the job training) and competency in the operational use, testing and maintenance of: physical security barriers; CCTV systems; handheld VHF radio communications systems; security detection equipment (search mirrors, hand held and walk through metal detectors, X-Ray machine use and image interpretation, Explosive Detector Itemiser); and vehicle and pedestrian search and screening procedures.
• Excellent spoken and written proficiency in both English and Arabic
• Well developed information technology and administration skills
• Current Basic First Aid qualification.
Salary will be based on skills and experience. All new staff are employed on a fixed term contract basis, and will be initially engaged for a three month probationary period.
